Micro case studies

A snapshot of how our customers have benefited from our experience in learning design.

Conflict Management for Educational Leaders

RRI worked with TLP to customise our Conflict Management course for Heads, Deputy heads and senior managers in Welsh schools. The course was built around scenarios relevant to the educators work situations and provided a set of tools to use in daily challenges.

Vision Workshop

To launch a new season for the business for Shell ands. Vivo Lubricants, regional leaders gathered together in Barcelona from the MENA region to take part in a series of experiential vision workshops. RRI designed and facilitated a programme to inspire, engage and. move the group forward. Highlights include a facilitated exploration of Gaudi’s architecture and his time tested vision, live illustrations and a problem solving challenge involving sailing yachts. The new CEO reported that it would have been impossible to communicate his vision in a conventional meeting setting and the group came away with a clearer sense of direction and identity.

Customer Service

DJM Consulting approached Red Rock International to assist in developing and delivering a workshop for Scottish Borders Housing Association (SBHA). Previously, SBHA had feedback that some frontline staff found training environments threatening and non-engaging and so they requested a lively and interactive approach that would work for all 200 staff: from the CEO to general labourers. We co-created a workshop comprised of a wide range of learning experiences including the ‘Blindfold customer exercise’ to give staff an appreciation of the experience of vulnerable customers dependent on them for care.

Competency based learning suite

RRI tendered and won a three year call-off contract with Muntajat to supply leadership and soft skills training. Since then, we have demonstrated our ability to tailor our training to support Muntajat’s values, ways of working and competency development framework. Courses have included Creative Problem Solving and Decision Making, Coaching for Managers, Advanced Presentation Skills and Performance Management.

Student Leadership Programme

A partnership was formed between RRI, Maersk Oil and Qatar Foundation and 9 universities. This became the EBDA programme which ran between 2014 and 2016. The EBDA programme focused on building leadership skills in students through experiential learning, skills training, team challenges and personal development. Building on leadership initiatives in the universities RRI developed new workshops, delivered training for the faculty, led expeditions in the Qatari Desert and up Kilimanjaro and organised the Ebda Challenge, a day 2-day desert event for teams of students with a focus on STEM and coaching for the students.

Stretch Programme

RRI became a partner of Alcatel Lucent to deliver their ‘Stretch Program’ for high potential managers for mid-level managers from across the region. The programme equipped managers across three modules in Leading Myself, Leading Others and Leading Across the Organisation.

Team effectiveness expedition

RRI partnered with a long-term advisor to the Senior Management team to create a customised adventure which developed relationships and tested business skills. The solution dovetailed with the advisor’s programme of executive development. The group had to plan and execute a remote expedition in the High Atlas and help local business owners in developing their marketing plans.

Gamified micro-learning for a hard to reach audience

Vodafone is an established leader in providing resources to help parents keep their children safe online. Often parents did not use online resources, were reluctant to attend events and found lectures a big turn off. In the first year of teaching digital parenting, Vodafone Qatar had reached less than 50 people. They approached RRI to find a way to take the message to parents. Over the next three years we delivered training for over 12,000 people using creative approaches including an app-based treasure hunt around shopping centres, augmented reality activities in an educational festival and green screen video workshops in schools. Often, participants were engrossed in learning activities for 45 – 60 minutes, working on up to fifteen learning objectives – all while enjoying an entertaining experience that felt nothing like traditional teaching.

Immersive leadership collaboration

To enhance their internal programmes the L & D department at QatarGas asked RRI to design and deliver a series of learning experiences, workshops and training for their graduates and high potential leaders. As part of the programme, RRI designed a 3 day immersive business simulation that saw two teams present business plans, build oil rigs and make strategic sales decisions. The exercise concluded with an intense presentation to QatarGas senior management then group reviews and 1-1 coaching. RRI delivered the simulations in conjunction with QatarGas staff, ensuring the programme seamlessly integrated and utilised the experience of all involved.

HSSE and Worker Welfare Knowledge Sharing

The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy is overseeing construction of six stadia by multiple contractor firms. To help share best practice around HSSE and worker welfare across the stakeholders of this high profile project we facilitated a knowledge sharing workshop with 150 participants. Our team facilitated discussions with key information captured by a live illustrator to ensure maximum understanding and engagement.

This is what our clients have to say

"My team was still talking about what we did with Red Rock 10 years after, probably the best motivational team event we ever did."
David Skews
CEO - EDP
"We received a significant amount of positive feedback from these events with many people saying it was the best training programme that they had experienced."
Pamela Nichol-Littlejohn
Director of Business support - SBHA
"I cannot thank you enough for the dedication and professionalism displayed by your team. The event was a big hit and our team and people are still talking about it."
Dina Maher
Maersk Drilling
"I have worked with Red Rock for the past 3 years and have been amazed by their professionalism and creativity in planning activities. However, the reason why I prefer them to others is due to their commitment to the learning of the student. I have worked with similar organisations in the past, but have yet to work with a group as ethical and philosophically sound as Red Rock."
Uday Rosario
Assistant Director for Student Programs - Georgetown University in Qatar
“Being in a remote outdoor environment... allowed the course to push people to their limits with the knowledge that all the activities were delivered to the highest safety standards. You showed phenomenal judgment in pushing us to the furthest points of our limits...”
Michele McNaughton
BG Group
"The events we’ve worked on have had significant impact.”
Travis Hesketh
Emerson Process Management
"It would be difficult to spend time with the Red Rock team and not have a renewed enthusiasm for work and life as a whole."
Richard Cawdron
RBS
"We would like to commend your company's strong experience and your high quality standards throughout the event."
Marwan Abdin
HR Training Specialist - Adidas
